Feb 05, 2007  The linsysfs driver first appeared in FreeBSD 6.2. The linsysfs driver was derived from linprocfs by Doug Ambrisko. This manual page was edited by Doug Ambrisko, based on the linprocfs(5) manual page by Garrett Wollman.

For example, sis2 is the third NIC on the system using the sis 4 driver. A new kernel module will be generated in the current directory. If they continue, or are bothersome, you may wish to be sure the device is not conflicting with another device. All hardware require- ments listed apply to use with FreeBSD. Replace bge0 to match the system’s Ethernet interface name. For more information on configuring this device, see ifconfig 8. Add a line for each NIC present on the system, as seen in this example:.

Use the mediaopt option to select full-duplex mode. In this example, two Ethernet NIC s using freebsf dc 4 driver are present on the system:.

Traffic will be transmitted and received through these active ports. As with many other things, the network card may have been configured at installation time by sysinstall.

If the ifconfig 8 output had shown something similar to:. Nowadays we can not think about a computer without thinking about a network connection. The em driver supports the following media types: While this usually works for most hardware, it may not resolve this issue for everyone.

Setting Up Network Interface Cards

The MAC address of the card ether is Configuring the Network Card. Many cards require a PCI slot which supports bus mastering. If there is not, read on to Chapter Locating the Correct Driver.

In this example, the Ethernet interface, bge0is the master and the wireless interface, wlan0is lod failover. If the NIC was detected at boot, the kernel does not need to be recompiled. If there is no DHCP server and freebsx to the Internet is needed, manually configure the default gateway and the nameserver: The second Ethernet interface. More interfaces can be added to increase throughput and fault tolerance. Replace dc0 and dc1 and the IP address information with the correct values for the system.

The manual page will give you more information about the supported hardware and even the possible problems that could occur. freebsx

Dear friends,
I usually keep bitorrent transmission-remote running on a server to help distribution of Debian.
I usually limit upload speed to 2Mb/s upload to limit bandwidth on my fiber line.
This is only an average speed, uploads can peek faster. This is not a tracker, only the client giving additional bandwidth.
I tried to do the same with FreeBSD using:
https://wiki.freebsd.org/Torrents
After a few days of inactivity, FreeBSD torrent files were stuck, to approximatively rate of 10% to 20% uploads.
As a result, downloads are slow, because people like me willing to help are scattered.
To compare with Debian, some of their ISO have 500 peers and you can download at high speed. I can remind from 10 to 20 Mb/s.
Is there any technical or ethical reason why no bitorrent tracker is available for FreeBSD?
Kind regards,
